Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
What is GrantJar?
You won a grant, congratulations. GrantJar is a simple tool that helps you manage it: log your expenses, keep every receipt in one place, watch your budget, and produce a clean report for your funder. No spreadsheets to wrestle and no accountant required.
Is my data private?
Your grant records are private to you. We use them only to show you your own dashboard and reports. We never sell them, never share them, and never use them for anything else. You can export everything to a spreadsheet or delete it whenever you like. It is your data, and it stays that way.
Is GrantJar free?
GrantJar is free for one grant, with expense tracking, receipts, budget, and report exports included. If you have more than one grant or need full funder reporting, Pro is $12 a month or $120 a year, with a 14-day free trial. See the pricing page for details.
Which grants does it support?
GrantJar has built-in templates in two families. Fellowships and leadership awards: Bush, Mandela Washington, Ashoka, Echoing Green, MacArthur, and Guggenheim. Academic and research grants: Fulbright, the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, the NEA Creative Writing Fellowship, and the NEH Fellowship. You can also build your own grant with your goals, categories, and budget, and edit any template to match your award.
What about receipts?
Add a photo or PDF of the receipt to any expense and it stays attached, so everything you need for reporting is in one place.
Can I track more than one grant?
Yes. The free plan covers one grant. Pro tracks unlimited grants and lets you switch between them, so you can manage every award in one place.
How do I report to my funder?
Open a grant and export your records to a spreadsheet (CSV) or a PDF report covering every expense and a month-by-month summary.
